Unions to block motorways

The Confederation of Labour Unions (KOZ) is organising a protest on many of the country's main motorway routes for tomorrow morning. Trucks will drive at 60 km/h along the routes between 06:00 and 09:00. The move follows a blockade of 13 border crossings by KOZ members on May 23, in an effort to persuade the government to pay more attention to their demands. "The motorways will not be blocked like the border crossings, when we fully blocked traffic. It will be a slow journey along six sections of motorway around Slovakia," said KOZ vice-president Eugen Škultéty. The routes are Bratislava - Kúty, Bratislava - Trnava, Trnava - Nitra, Piešťany - Trenčín, Prešov - Košice, and Važec - Liptovský Mikuláš. Compiled by Conrad Toft from press reports.
