Central bank losses

The National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) has increased its loss this year, closing May 2003 Sk16.6 billion (?405 million) in the red.

According to the news wire SITA, the loss was caused by the continuing fluctuation of Western currencies, among other factors.

In May alone the NBS's debt reached Sk3.9 billion (?94.6 million).
