Slovak wine consumption grows

SLOVAK wine consumption is rising fast, says the Slovak Association of Grape and Wine Producers.

At between 12.5 and 13 litres of wine per head, the level is still far below that of other wine-growing countries such as France (57 litres/head) and Italy (54 litres/head).

Wine producers expect consumption to rise between a quarter and a fifth this year from 2002 levels of 65 million litres.
