Afternoon

From the arboretum go north and visit the ruins of the Liptovský Hrádok Castle. (Unfortunately, the mansion that houses the ethnological museum is closed due to reconstruction).

Then, by car or local bus from the Liptovský Hrádok train station, travel 5 kilometres northeast to the village of Pribylina. The open-air museum is the only one in Slovakia that features the dwellings of noble families alongside the houses of the poor. The houses were moved there from what is now the bottom of the Liptovská Mara reservoir.

Múzeum Liptovskej dediny Pribylina (Open-Air Museum of Liptov Village), Pribylina. Open daily 9:00-18:00. Admission: Sk25 and Sk30. Tel: 044/5293-163.

Evening

Attend the Východná Folklore Festival (see Top Pick this page).
