States, NGOs form Roma working group

NINE central and eastern European governments, the World Bank, and the Open Society Institute agreed to launch a special working group aiming for the integration of Roma into the expanding EU.

The officials agreed on the plan in Budapest at an international conference dedicated to the problems of what is seen as the most deprived ethnic minority in the region.

In Slovakia the estimated 450,000 Roma are among the country's least educated and poorest inhabitants of the country.
