EASTERN SLOVAKIA is under consideration to be the location of a new Hyundai car plant, according to the Czech magazine Prague Business Journal. Other countries in the running for the plant are the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland.
"The chances for attracting Hyundai are good. They are based on the fact that we started our economic reforms earlier than our competitors. The tax burden for businesses in Slovakia at 19 percent will be lower than what the Czech Republic can offer," said Economy Minister Róbert Nemcsics.
Earlier this year, PSA Peugeot Citroen began building a car plant in the western city of Trnava.
