Gambling costs Slovaks billions

LAST year Slovaks spent a total of almost Sk9.25 billion (€222 million) on slot machines, almost half of what they annually on food.

According to daily Pravda some municipalities are trying to ban gambling in their localities, but most of them are also profiting from it, and mayors consider income from gambling an important source of money.
