Reader feedback: Keep on singing

Re: Joining in around the campfire, Slovak Matters, By Conrad Toft, June 30 - July 6,2003, Vol 9, No 25

When I travelled to Slovakia and visited friends and family in Bratislava and in the Tatras, we would sit outside and drink the excellent wines and beers. Our hosts would start singing the folk songs that they learned as children and young adults.

This also brought an important part of my life to the fore. Being a performer with Slovak folk groups in Pittsburgh for the past 35 years we would have contests for who could name the song and complete it.

Please do not let this part of the folk culture die.
