Jobless rate drops slightly

THE UNEMPLOYMENT rate fell to 14.68 percent in June, down 0.13 percent from May, according to the latest statistics published by the National Labour Office (NÚP). The agency reported 389,793 people unemployed and ready to take up a job immediately.

Compared to last year's figures, the number of jobless dropped by nearly 7,500, the Labour Ministry reported.

The registered unemployment rate was at 15.44 percent in June, down 1.02 percentage points from May. The total number of registered job seekers fell by 4,399 from May and by 78,822 since June 2002.
