First female enters presidential race

A LINGUIST, economist and artist Alena Schopperthová announced her candidacy for the presidential elections scheduled for next year.

Schopperthová holds membership in no political party and believes that it is time for a new generation to take Slovakia's affairs in hands.

So far, Eduard Kukan (SDKU), František Mikloško (KDH), Martin mayor Stanislav Bernát, and Mikuláš Horváth, backed by Roma parties, have announced their candidacy.
