Poll shows 69% in favour of abortion

IN A poll of 500 Slovak citizens, the MVK polling agency reported that more than 69 percent of the respondents would support a law that would make it possible to abort pregnancy until the 24th week if the embryo were genetically damaged.

Only 18.5 percent would vote against such legislation and 11.5 percent could not tell how they would vote if they happened to sit in parliament.

The MVK also suggests that 65.4 percent said the president should sign the abortion law while only 19 percent thought that he should veto it, Národna obroda daily reported.
