Jobless rate drops in July

THE UNEMPLOYMENT rate has dropped under 14.5 percent for the first time in four years, the National Labour Office (NÚP) reports.

In July the NÚP registered 384,612 unemployed persons immediately ready to take up work, thus pushing the rate down by 0.11 percentage points in a month. Compared to July 2002, this is a decrease of 3.12 percentage points.

Analysts say that the dropping rate results from the growing productivity of the economy and changes to the system of registering the unemployed at labour offices, the daily SME writes.
