One-time minister becomes EBRD official

Slovak economic growth in 2003 should stand at around 4.1 percent, for a total GDP of Sk1.17 trillion (€28 billion), the Slovak Statistics Office (ŠÚ SR) said in its unchanged latest forecast on Thursday, news wire TASR reported.

The projection is close to that of the central bank NBS (3.9-4.4 percent) and the International Monetary Fund (4 percent).

For unemployment, however, the SU SR did revise its full-year forecast, from 17.8 to 17.2 percent.

Average headline inflation is still expected at 8.4 percent, though the year-end estimate was raised by 0.2 percentage points, to 8.9 percent.
