Reader feedback: More info on the Rusyns

Celebrate Rusyn Culture, Reader Feedback, Sept 2-7, Vol 9, No33

I would like to see more articles about Rusyn culture, as my grandfather is originally from east Slovakia. I have travelled to Slovakia twice now and many people I met could not tell me anything about the Rusyn people's origins or culture. I also noticed that a lot of Slovaks seem to look down on people who are Rusyn or from east Slovakia. Is this just a "west is best" kind of attitude or is it more than that? My cousin in Slovakia still has Ukrainian nationality on her I.D/passport because in communist times the family was not allowed to put Rusyn, and as a result has been given a hard time on occasion at her university. Anyway more info would be appreciated!
