Orange information leaks

Confidential phone numbers, addresses, and ID numbers of the clients of mobile phone operator Orange have leaked. For a period of time the database was made freely accessible over the internet, daily SME writes.

A businessman warned the daily about the leak. He submitted a CD with the data of almost 900,000 clients.

The Office for Personal Data Protection does not exclude the possibility that the data could have been abused on the black market.

The company has filed a lawsuit against an unknown offender for hacking into Orange's internal computer system and publishing the data on the internet.

Recently, other Slovak firms including insurer Slovenska Poistovna, mobile phone operator EuroTel, and Slovak Telecom have encountered similar confidentiality problems.
