THE AGRICULTURE ministry wants to agree with commercial banks to provide short-term mortgages to Slovak farmers at advantageous rates to enable them to buy local land.
The move comes as a reaction to fears that richer EU farmers could buy local land once Slovakia enters the EU in May 2004.
