Compensation for political prisoners

MPs approved changes to the law on compensation of political prisoners, which mainly aids those unjustly prosecuted by the communist regime.

The amendment enlarged the circle of people entitled to request compensation, including remarried partners of political prisoners who were killed by communists.

Children of these partners will also be entitled to apply for the compensation.

Compensation depends on the length of imprisonment. The minimum is Sk40,000 (€952).
