Bus, train transport fees to go up

THE TRANSPORT Ministry proposed a 10 percent increase of travel fares for bus and train transportation.

Increased VAT and inflation were behind the plan, said the ministry.

The ministry also proposed cutting existing discounts for certain groups of citizens, such as students and disabled persons.

The Slovak railways firm said that it expects the number of passengers to drop by 2 percent if the cabinet approves the ministry plan.
