Cabinet unites on election draft

THE CABINET agreed on November 19 to maintain one constituency in parliamentary elections.

The proposed draft of the election law planned to divide Slovakia into four constituencies. The Slovak daily Pravda reported on November 19 that the introduction of four constituencies was opposed by the ruling New Citizen's Alliance (ANO), which demanded either one constituency or eight. The latter is identical to the number of Slovak regions.

The law will also enable private media to run political ads during the pre-election campaign.

"Do ľava," (to the left) I yelled, "Nie, do prava" (no, to the right), I gasped. "Dolšie," I screamed. "Nie, nie, horšie..." My Slovak girlfriend collapsed in laughter. Was it something I said?
