Slovak product up for Swedish Steel Prize

TATRAVAGÓNKA, a train producer from Poprad, was nominated for a prestigious Swedish Steel Prize for its prototype of a freight wagon called Shimmns HSS.

Slovak daily Pravda reported on November 15 that the winner would be announced at the end of November out of four international nominees.

Július Vachmanský, general director of Tatravagónka Poprad, said that the prototype was developed in cooperation with the Swedish firm SSAB and the Swiss company AAE.

The wagon is almost one tonne lighter then its previous model and it is designed for the transportation of steel rolls.
