OH HAPPY DAY is the title of a concert and one of the songs by The Black Gospel Singers, whose 2003 European tour will stop in Bratislava on November 26. One of the most popular gospel bands in the world, The Black Gospel Singers from New York will perform in Slovakia for the first time. Altogether, 14 members will sing traditional American church melodies, accompanied by piano. The concert starts on Wednesday at 19:00 at the Športová hala Pasienky (Pasienky Sport Hall) at Trnavská cesta 29. The tickets cost Sk400. For more information call 02/4437-2127.

EASTERN SLOVAKIA


THE FESTIVAL of Contemporary Art in Košice will run from November 24 until November 27. The first day will start at 18:30 with the opening of an exhibition displaying work by students of design, which will run until December 15 at the Dom umenia (House of Arts) at Moyzesova 66 in Košice. This event will be followed by a chamber concert featuring works by various international composers at 19:00 at the same venue. The next evening, November 25, will begin at 19:00 with a chamber concert dedicated to works by Slovak composers, such as Norbert Bodnár and Iris Szeghy, which will take place at the Košice Konzervatórium (Conservatory) at Timonova 2. A symphonic concert by the Košice State Philharmonic (ŠFK) Orchestra, conducted by Bystrík Režucha, will close the event on Thursday, November 27, starting at 19:00, at the House of Arts.
