Entrepreneurs hail business environment

A NEW report by the Slovak Business Alliance (PAS) showed that local entrepreneurs appreciate Slovakia's improving business conditions.

The business environment index, which began with 100 points in July 2001, improved to 108.7 points in the third quarter of 2003, wrote the Slovak daily SME.

Business people who participated in the survey thought access to loans in Slovakia has improved by over 30 percent over the last two years.

On the negative side, however, business people cited the continually low level of law enforcement and ineffective courts to be impediments to doing business in the country.

The report also showed that if managers were to influence the policy making in Slovakia, they would primarily concentrate on law enforcement. The business community also prioritizes the simplification and stabilization of tax legislation.
