Presidential hopefuls revealed in January

PRESIDENTIAL candidates will be officially known by the end of January, as speaker of parliament Pavol Hrušovský plans to announce the presidential elections early next month.

According to existing legislation, candidates are expected to submit their bids within 21 days of the election announcement.

Current President Rudolf Schuster ends his term in office in spring 2004 and new elections will be held in April.
