Reader feedback: Jobs not cops

Re: Roma call plans for special officers racist, By Martina Pisárová, Jan 26 - Feb 1, Vol 10, No 3

Once again the government is spending money to put patches on the symptoms of the problem. The government should be working to solve its cause: unemployment.

Instead of paying money to Slovaks to patrol the Roma villages, they should be putting this money into creating jobs for the Roma.

There are plenty of jobs the government could give them: painting old buildings, cleaning up trash along roads, etc., which would make Slovakia a more beautiful place and give the Roma some pride in having a job.
