Thai businesses interested in Slovakia

THAILAND and Slovakia could cooperate in tourism, hotel, and spa services, Slovak Economy Minister Pavol Rusko and Kantathi Suphamongkhon, the Thai representative for trade with countries of Europe and America, agreed at a meeting on March 2, the SITA news wire wrote.

According to Rusko, Thai companies could develop activities in the Slovak construction and textile industries, as well.

Thailand would offer Slovakia a gateway to southeast Asian markets of 200 million people, while Slovakia would secure access for Thailand to European Union markets with 470 million people. Currently, trade with Slovakia constitutes less than 0.5 percent of Thai foreign trade, the Thai representative said.

Rusko is dissatisfied with the activities of the current Slovak commercial attaché in Thailand. He would prefer to see external Thai consultants helping Slovak firms enter the local market.
