BRATISLAVA's Aréna Theatre will stage the first opera in its history: Gioacchino Rossini's popular comedy Il Barbiere di Siviglia. Subtitled Opera Without a Tie, the work will premiere on April 20, 21, and 22 - each day starting at 19:00 - at the theatre at Viedenská cesta 10.
Freshly adapted by graduates from the Bratislava University of Performing and Drama Arts in cooperation with the theatre, the Italian opus will feature the most significant young talents: singers, instrumentalists, set designers, and filmmakers, many of whom regularly perform at the Slovak National Theatre or Prague's State Opera and win international contests in their field. Well-known opera singer Martin Babjak and members of the Slovak National Theatre Opera choir will join the young cast.
