SIS on terror alert

THE SLOVAK Intelligence Service (SIS) is on alert over possible terrorist threats, the private TV Markíza reported.

SIS spokesman Vladimír Šimko said that the intelligence service had recorded an "increased occurrence of signals suggesting that groups linked to international terrorism are activating".

He refused to specify whether an immediate threat was present, saying only that the suspect groups were organised based on ethnic, religious, and combined ethnic-religious principles.
