Smer to merge with social democrats

THE OPPOSITION party Smer will merge with the non-parliamentary Social Democratic Party of Slovakia, the latter's senior body decided, but the decision must still be approved by a special meeting to be held in June this year.

According to the plan, the two would merge under the name Smer Social Democracy by June 12, the Slovak daily Pravda wrote.
