Smer to merge with social democrats

THE OPPOSITION party Smer will merge with the non-parliamentary Social Democratic Party of Slovakia, the latter’s senior body decided. The decision must still be approved by a special meeting to be held in June this year.

According to the plan, the two would join as the Smer Social Democracy by June 12, the Slovak daily Pravda wrote.
