Wood processing posts Sk26 billion

THE WOOD processing firms in Slovakia reached total sales of almost Sk26 billion (€650 million) in the first four months of this year, a 4.9 percent annual growth, the private news agency SITA wrote.

The sector's exports reached Sk24.9 billion (€623 million), up 8.3 percent annually, while imports grew 7.3 percent to Sk12.6 million (€315 million) for the given period.

The number of companies in the sector grew from 215 to 225, the Economy Ministry said. The number of the sector's employees decreased by 5 percent annually, to 28,111 persons at the end of April.
