Reader feedback: History counts

Re: Slovakia's sacrifice, By Lukáš Fila, June 14 - 20, Vol 10, No 22

Thanks very much for this positive article about Slovakia's role in helping bring about democracy and freedom in Iraq. Slovaks certainly know about the price of freedom. They paid that price under the Austro-Hungarian Empire and then under Hitler and Communism. Too bad people both young and old don't read and understand their history. Freedom isn't free; ask the soldiers who died in Europe twice to keep that continent free.
