Nový Deň daily sees its last day

THE OPPOSITION daily Nový Deň, sponsored by the opposition party Movement for Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) published its last issue today, July 23.

The newspaper had been on the market since 1999 and for some time Magda Mečiarová, the daughter of HZDS leader Vladimír Mečiar, acted as the main shareholder of its publisher, Republika, the private news agency SITA wrote.
