TRENČÍN native Oliver Dohnányi became the new chief conductor of the Žilina State Chamber Orchestra on September 1, the TASR news agency reported. The last time the post was occupied was between 1995 and 2000, when the young Czech conductor Leoš Svárovský led the orchestra.
Dohnányi will also continue to work in opera as chief conductor for the National Theatre in Prague, where he worked between 1993 and 1996, before returning in May 2004.
