THE RULING New Citizen's Alliance (ANO) has been strengthened to 12 MPs after the former opposition Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) politician Jozef Elsner joined the club on September 14.
ANO has suffered several departures of its members since the start of the current election term in autumn 2004. Originally the caucus comprised 15 MPs.
After leaving HZDS, Elsner acted as an independent MP.
The ruling coalition, which lost majority in parliament almost a year ago, now has 70 MPs in the 150 strong chamber.
