Sk150 million to transform railway

NATIONAL railway network operator ŽSR will use Sk150 million (€3.7 million) for the transformation of its area directorates next year, the SITA news agency has reported.

The 2005 changes will be the second stage of the transformation of the ŽSR management system to a more effective scheme.

Sk127 million (€3.2 million) will go towards severance pay, since the planned changes will see 320 employees made redundant in the course of next year.

The company's Bratislava headquarters was rationalised and 25 railway administrative centres were transformed to four area directorates, in Trnava, Zvolen, Žilina, and Košice.
