Police collect Sk21 million on "hawk"

SLOVAK police have collected Sk21.4 million (€530,000) in fines from 27,263 traffic offences in what has been their biggest week-long road safety action called "Jastrab" [hawk], news wire SITA reported.

Overall, police detected 31,978 traffic offences and 58 crimes. In 3,555 cases a verbal warning was sufficient, and 1,160 cases were reported to the traffic department for further administrative action.

Altogether 7,623 police officers participated in the campaign.
