Wages rising fastest outside capital

Hourly rates of pay in the business-sector in Slovakia reached an average Sk107.9 (€2.7) in the first half of this year.

In the regions of Trenčín, Trnava and Žilina wages rose fastest, by between 8.6 and 12.7 percent, wrote the daily Pravda.

The results are due to increased business activity in the regions and planned investments by two carmakers, PSA Peugeot Citroen, and Kia. Salaries rose at an even faster pace in these regions than in Bratislava.

The region of Prešov experienced the slowest rate of pay increase, at only one percent.
