Representatives of the American investor Plastipak Packaging and the village of Kechnec (Košice region) signed a contract October 7, for 10 hectares of land in the industrial park in Kechnec, TASR news wire wrote.
The American investor is buying the land to build a bottle production and recycling plant. The investment has an initial value of $20 million (Sk651.8 million).
Plastipak is paying Sk50 (€1.24) per square metre for the land, which has power hook-up capacity and water and other infrastructure networks. Construction of the plant should begin spring 2005 and around 100 people will be employed there.
Kechnec's mayor Jozef Konkoly and William C. Young, president of Plastipak, put their names to the contract.
