Steel company goes green

U.S. Steel Košice (also known as the East Slovakian Iron Works) made environmental improvements worth Sk700 million (€17.5 million) to its production facilities this year. It plans to invest another Sk2.5 billion (€62 million) on a secondary dust-removal unit in Converter Steel Plant I, the SITA news agency reported.

A subsidiary of United States Steel, the company is one of Europe's modern steel strip producers. Customers include automotive manufacturers and appliance makers, among others.
