Police seize illegal cigarettes

BORDER police seized 26,758 packages of cigarettes labelled with Ukrainian revenue stamps, the news agency SITA reported. Taxes have not yet been calculated.

The police said 20 men smuggled the cigarettes through the Slovak-Ukrainian border and hid them at an abandoned house in the village of Podhorod, which is in the Sobranovce district. The police have already brought prosecution against the offenders.
