Slovaks positive about euro adoption

SLOVAKS perceive the planned adoption of the euro positively, although, like other new member states, they fear that shops will round prices upwards, a new Eurobarometer survey showed.

According to the survey, as much as 64 percent of Slovaks fear fraud and a price hike after euro adoption. However, Slovakia’s fears rank below the average in the 10 new EU member states, where 71 percent of the people fear fraud and price increases, the Hospodarske noviny wrote.

The Eurobarometer survey shows that people in Poland, Cyprus, and Malta are the most worried about price hikes after euro adoption. Slovenians are the least worried, with only 34 percent of the population registering fear.
