SF chair says SDKÚ and HZDS in cahoots

FREE FORUM (SF) chairwoman Zuzana Martinaková and former member of PM Mikuláš Dzurinda's Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ), said that the cooperation between the opposition Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) and SDKÚ paves the way for the return of Vladimír Mečiar to the top of the Slovak political arena.

Mečiar, three times Slovakia's Prime Minister, was perceived as an authoritative leader responsible for Slovakia's international isolation between 1994 and 1998.

According to Martináková, it is obvious that the SDKÚ and the HZDS are cooperating in parliament. Ironically, Dzurinda became Prime Minister after leading fierce opposition to Mečiar in the 1998 elections.
