Slovakia a non-permanent UN Security Council member in 2006

AS OF January 2006, Slovakia may become a non-permanent member of the United Nation's Security Council. The eastern European regional group confirmed the country as its candidate, the SITA news agency wrote.

Slovakia has been seeking non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council since 1999.
