Šramko elected governor of central bank

PARLIAMENT has approved the appointment of Ivan Šramko as next governor of the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS). Currently deputy governor, Šramko received 108 out of 109 votes cast in the December 10 poll, according to the TASR news agency.

Šramko was recommended for the post by the current NBS governor Marián Jusko, and was supported by all four ruling-coalition parties. He will assume the post from January 1.
