BRATISLAVA



GERMAN conductor Walter Haupt brings to Bratislava his interpretation of the classical masterpiece Carmina Burana, by Carl Orff. Already seen by more than 600,000 spectators, Carmina Burana Open Air Opera is an acoustical and optical experience. The opera is a cycle of songs for solo voice and choir with orchestra, and has 24 individual pictures, celebrating spring, summer, happiness, love and life. The opera stars 300 performers and starts at 19:00, December 6, at Incheba Congress Centre, Viedenská cesta 3-7. Tickets cost Sk800 to Sk2,390.


CLASSICAL MUSIC: Christmas Concert - The ensemble Musica Aeterna plays Baroque.

WESTERN SLOVAKIA



VISEGRAD Christmas, an international festival, brings Central Europe's rich Christmas traditions and crafts to the Orava region. An international market with products by craftsmen in Dolný Kubín opens December 8 and closes the next day. Carollers and groups from the Czech Republic, Poland, and Slovakia compete on December 11 at 15:00 at the Zuberec Culture House. The same ensembles will appear again the next day at the same place, again at 15:00. Tickets for both events cost Sk30.
