The Slovak tennis duo were the winners of the XVII Hopman Cup competition, the unofficial world championship for mixed teams, held this year in Perth, Australia.
Daniela Hantuchová and Dominik Hrbatý defeated the Argentinian pair Gisela Dulko and Guillermo Coria in two singles and one doubles match, daily SME wrote.
This is the second time that Slovakia has won the competition. It was last taken by Karol Kučera and Karina Habšudová in 1998.
With two victories, Slovakia holds joint second place alongside Germany, Spain and Switzerland.
Hantuchová told AP that the victory was an amazing thing for her country of just five million inhabitants. Hrbatý also says that he loves team competitions and always plays better when he is representing Slovakia.
