GREAT American blues vocalist Kathi McDonald will appear in the Za Zrkadlom Club February 17 at 20:00. McDonald comes from Seattle and has been making a living from music since her childhood. She has contributed to 140 albums, 70 of them gold. Among legends who she has performed with Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, Ike and Tina Turner, and Long John Baldry. McDonald has recorded three solo albums. Guitarist Marty Hall and harp player Butch Coulter, supported by the Dusty Ford Band, will perform with her. The club is at Rovniankova 3, Petržalka. KOLOMAN Sokol Centre hosts an exhibition of lesser-known works by Ester Šimerová-Martinčeková, an important Slovak visual artist heavily influenced by cubism. Displayed works include paintings, drawings, collages, stucco and bronze objects. The exhibits present the life's work of Šimerová-Martinčeková. A highlight is her unique stained-glass doors from the mid-1930s when she was engaged in stage and furniture design. During the official opening of the exhibition, the first monograph about the artist, written by Marián Pauer, was introduced. The exhibition runs daily except Monday between 10:00 and 17:00 until March 13. The Koloman Sokol Centre is located at Námestie osloboditeľov 28 in Liptovský Mikuláš. Admission is Sk15 and Sk30.
