Slovakia to welcome Presidents Bush and Putin

The Slovak Republic is hosting the meeting between the Heads of State of the United States and the Russian Federation in Bratislava on February 24.

Both Presidents will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with senior Slovak leaders in Bratislava over the February 23-25th period.

This visit by President George W Bush is the first visit by a President of the United States to the Slovak Republic. It is also the first visit to the Slovak Republic by President Vladimir Putin.

On January 24, 2005, the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the opening of the official "Secretariat for the Preparation and Organization of the Summit of the Russian Federation and the USA".

The Secretariat is located at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and it is the point of coordination for all Slovak institutions supporting the visits and their accompanying events.

INFORMATION FOR MEDIA PLANNING

The official website will be the source for all official information from the Slovak government. Many details, including the official programmes, schedules and media coverage, are still at the development stage but all official information will be posted on the website as soon as it is available. Please keep checking on a regular basis.

APPLICATION FOR MEDIA ACCREDITATION

The Media Accreditation Form is available now on the official website.

Accreditation of journalists, video and still photographers and technical personnel will occur ONLY VIA THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE.

The media credential will require a photo for a photo ID produced by the host Slovak Republic. All accreditation applications must be made electronically by the Media Accreditation Application Form that is available NOW on the Official Summit website, www.slovakiasummit.com

THE DEADLINE FOR ALL MEDIA ACCREDITATION APPLICATIONS IS FEBRUARY 18, 2005.

SUMMIT INTERNATIONAL PRESS CENTER:

The International Press Center for the US-Russia summit as well as for the official visits to the Slovak Republic of President Bush and President Putin will be located in the INCHEBA exhibition centre, Viedenska cesta 3-7, 851 01 Bratislava.

The Summit Press Center will be available as a source of information and workspace for journalists, TV production, radio, photo, and Internet journalists. The Summit Press Center will be open to the media starting Tuesday, February 22, and will operate around the clock, 24 hours a day, until the end of the business day on Friday, February 25.

Details on working facilities at the Summit Press Center are still in development. Please keep checking with the official website for updates.

Media inquiries are welcome at the Summit Secretariat. Media organizations are asked to send their inquiries by email if possible. Requests for any interviews with President Bush or President Putin must be directed, please, to their representatives at the White House, the Kremlin or their embassies.
