THERE have been strong reactions to a proposal by MPs Jirka Malchárek and Jozef Heriban to introduce pre-nuptial agreements to Slovakia, according to the Hospodárske noviny business daily.
The two MPs want the new Civil Code to provide couples the choice of signing a pre-nuptial agreement, organizing their assets in the case of a divorce.
Heriban argues that giving people this choice would make sense as 40 percent of marriages end up in the courts.
"People getting married have no opportunity to administer their assets," said Heriban.
By giving the proposal their approval MPs would give married Slovaks the chance to decide what would happen to their assets in the event of a divorce.
