SLOVAKIA'S Deputy PM for EU Affairs Pál Csáky is proposing setting up a European Fund for Roma projects, the TASR news agency reported.
"The problem is that individual Roma projects are being financed from a variety of funds and there is rivalry among individual projects for funding," he said.
According to Csáky, it is necessary to earmark a specific sum of money for Roma projects and for more efficient projects to be implemented.
"The Fund is a good idea, but the problem is that those EU countries without major problems with a Roma minority do not really support it," he said, adding that it will take more time to convince the EU about the wisdom of the idea.
